Typical 90's Kid

Photobucket

90's Game Systems

Photobucket

I'd rather play these than Xbox 360 or a Wii any day.

Step By Step

Photobucket

The best show that took place in Wisconsin until That 70's Show came on.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater

Photobucket

The original that started it all.

SuperMarket Sweep

Photobucket

My parents wanted to be on this. I wanted to be on the kid's version where they go through a toy store.

Super Soakers

Photobucket

Why are these not popular anymore?!?!?!

Street Fighter

Photobucket

I recall this arcade game being in this inline skate rink that all the kids would hang out at on Friday nights.

Rug Rats

Photobucket

A bunch of talking babies who need no explanation.

Stretch Armstrong

Photobucket

Stretch him as far as you can.

Tech Deck

Photobucket

Every single kid in my 5th grade class had one of these. Sometimes we would hold a lighter up to the ends and melt the board to mold our fingers better. True tech-deck skaters didn't need to do that, though.

See also: Paper football.

Talk Boy

Photobucket

As made famous by Kevin McCallister in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

Surge

Photobucket

Surge was badass. Parents wouldn't let us drink it because it had too much caffeine. The commercials depicted many people running in slow motion through certain obstacles, all running for a single can of Surge that was usually placed on a large shrine.

TGIF

Photobucket

If you found yourself at home on a friday night with nothing to do, it was probably because you were watching TGIF. ABC basically ran a collection of family shows every friday night, including Boy Meets World, Full House, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and more.

TMNT

Photobucket

Forget about the CGI film that was recently released. We're talking about real animation and the live action films here, people.

Tournament Table

Photobucket

Three tables in one! I hung out with kids I specifically didn't even like because they had these.

Velcro-Ball-Toss-Game-Thing

Photobucket

I'm not sure of the official name of these. They were good fun until the velcro became infested with lint and hair and the ball wouldn't stick to it anymore.

We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story

Photobucket

Used to watch this on VHS every couple of weeks.

Yo-Yo's

Photobucket

I really can't describe just how many people had yo-yo's when I was in elementary school. These lead to the circulation being cut off from my middle finger countless times.

Saved By The Bell

Photobucket

I must confess that I never watched this show, but I know people wouldn't consider a 90's blog authentic without a SBTB post.

Smart Guy

Photobucket

I still love this show. I regularly watch it on youtube and apparently BET is playing it on weeknights now. Disney used to play this in their glory days with Boy Meets World.

Skip It

Photobucket

Skip it! I was terrible at these.

Slip N Slide

Photobucket

These were pretty fun, unless there were rocks under your slip n slide.

Ren & Stimpy

Photobucket

I have no idea why this show was targeted at children.

Road Rug

Photobucket

Road rugs. It was a little rug that was made to look like a road and you could drive your toy cars all around the roads. Best rugs EVAR.

MMPR

Photobucket

Mighty Morphing Power Rangers.

'Nuff said.

Fact: I was the blue ranger for Halloween in '94. I really wanted to be the red one, but my brother got to be. I was pissed.

Reading Rainbow

Photobucket

Butterfly in the sky, I can go twice as high
Take a look, it's in a book - Reading Rainbow.

I can go anywhere!
Friends to know and ways to grow - Reading Rainbow.

I can be anything!
Take a look, it's in a book - Reading Rainbow.

Reading Rainbow, Reading Rainbow, Reading Rainbow, Reading Rainbow!

Socker Boppers

Photobucket

These were the ultimate fun, but the fun usually ended up in something getting hit and breaking.

Skooters

Photobucket

I had one. We all did. Razor scooters were the obviously the best.

My Brother and Me

Photobucket

For some reason, I can barely find any info on this show but it aired on Nickelodeon in the early-mid 90s. It was awesome.

"Don't hold your breath."

Watch a clip here

Pete and Pete

Photobucket

Loved this show. 2 red-head brothers with the same name, what's not to like?

Micromachines

Photobucket

Better or worse than hot wheels?

Mr. Bucket

Photobucket

I don't know how big these were, but I remember a ton of people having Mr. Bucket.

The Magic School Bus

Photobucket

Never say never!

Pokemon

Photobucket

The cards...the games...the show...the movies. Pokemon ruled the world in the late 90s.

Pogs

Photobucket

Where's your slammer?

Laser Pointers

Photobucket

These were mighty popular in the late 90s. Don't point them at someone's eyes.

Light Ups!

Photobucket

Fuck yeah, I had so many pairs of these. My first pair had Barney on them too. I wish they would make these for adults now.

Weird Balls With Stretchy Things

Photobucket

For a lack of better terms, I forgot what these were called but we all had them.

Heavy Weights

Photobucket

This might take the cake as my favorite childhood film of the 90's. Everything about it is perfect. You've got Ben Stiller before he was huge, a bunch of fat kids bouncing off the BLOB, and it was even written by Judd Apatow who was involved in the making of Anchorman, the 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Superbad, etc.

Respect!

Gargoyles

Photobucket

This was an awesome show and the toys were even better. They were beastly.

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

Photobucket

Now this is the story all about how,
My life got flipped, turned upside down,
And I'd like to take a minute, just sit right there,
I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel Air.

In West Philadelphia I was born and raised
On the playground is where I spent most of my days.
Chillin' out, maxin', relaxin all cool,
And all shootin' some b-ball outside of the school.

When a couple of guys who were up to no good,
Started makin' trouble in my neighborhood.
I got in one little fight and my mom got scared,
And said "You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in bel Air."

I whistled for a cab, and when it came near,
The license plate said "fresh" and it had dice in the mirror.
If anything I could say that this cat was rare,
But I thought "Nah forget it, Yo home to Bel Air."

I pulled up to the house about seven or eight,
and I yelled to the cabby "Yo homes, smell ya later."
Looked at my kingdom, I was finally there,
To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Air.

Goosebumps

Photobucket

Goosebumps books ruled my childhood reading time. The TV show was great as well. The question is...which was the best book?

Eureeka's Castle

Photobucket

I will admit that I never watched this show, but I know plenty of girls did in the 90's.

Fun fact: RL Stine was a head writer on the show. (See the Goosebumps post right above this)

Eureeka's Castle on IMDB

Budweiser Frogs

Photobucket

Remember those Budweiser Frog commercials? Or howabout those "wazzzzzzzaaaapppp" commercials?

Etch-A-Sketch

Photobucket

Quite possibly one of the best toys ever invented.
